lol @ atlanta being nice ever. I think greenville sc (which may be a realistic future place of living soon) may have this, or at least TDKR in i-max and I'm ok w/ just that, but the i-max there did the whole day marvel madness, w/ thor, captain america, iron man 1 and 2, and the avengers, so I'm guessin it just hadnt been listed yet.

ALSO, would sperm techincally be considered a "test press"? why do I think of this shit.

Sperm???

I was all baked last night and not only thought this was funny, but also posted this in the wrong thread(s). I had this whole stoned analogy where the egg were the tracks/art/etc and the sperm was the vinyl/pressing process. I thought it was funny, but then again...........

Turns out the cinemas in the city here are showing both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on the night of the 18th. TDKR then shows just after midnight on the 19th but I think I'll wait until morning to see it, haha.
I'll definitely go and see the BB and TDK marathon though. |

Yeah, I have been hearing a lot of people bitching about Prometheus and that it didn't deliver or what not...I think people were just expecting another Alien movie.
Wednesday, June 20, 2012 @ 11:25 am
it IS and ISNT an alien movie..it COULD be considered a prequel, but theres more to it than just that. a LOT of subtle throws to other characters in the movie..ALSO, I am waiting for the blu-ray directors cut w/ 30+ minutes missnig, so if it seems kinda incomplete, theres the reason.. |

Prometheus was brilliant. Sets up the Xenomorph perfectly, IMO.

Prometheus was really good, but there's some stuff that doesn't connect very well with Alien. for example (SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! don't look down!!!!)
When they find the space jockey in Alien he's sitting in the big chair and his chest plate is busted out, but that's not where he ends up in Prometheus, and that just doesn't make much sense. I suspect they actually had Dr. Shaw die at the end where the space jockey died and that she was supposed to be where the queen came from, but then they decided they wanted to leave it open for another movie so they changed it without thinking about where the space jockey is really supposed to be. unless (and i'm sure this is how the makers would explain it) the space jockey had to punch through the chest plate to get himself out of the seat after the crash and just the outer armor was left in the seat. i think that's a pretty stupid explanation. I guess in Alien they were suggesting that whatever broke out of the space jockeys chest is what made the ship crash in the first place, so when they decided to change the whole back story of the planet they just decided to forget about that whole suggestion. |

Nerd glasses on...
Prometheus takes place on LV 223 not on LV 426. You can tell between the two movies that the planets have entirely 2 different types of planets. Now you can only assume that the engineers had the same plans for these 2 separate planets as in they are both planets being used for housing the alien life forms/dna or what not and then to use both planets as a point to leave from to go to earth and destroy mankind but also the same things went wrong before the humans got there OR the ship that Shaw took with David crashes on LV 426 and if they accidently (or on purpose) wake up another engineer. There is another movie planned. |

Thursday, June 21, 2012 @ 2:47 pm
ahhhh, that makes more sense. so I guess the xenomorph at the end of Prometheus isn't supposed to be the same queen that planted all the eggs they found in Alien? I think I was interpreting the end of Prometheus as explaining how the xenomorphs got to be the way they are in Alien but that the black stuff doesn't necessarily make the same organism every time it gets out. cause the facehugger thing was pretty different than the spidery ones, but I guess that could also be a result of being born rather than being implanted....hmmmmmm

Yeah, more spoilers:
Another thing to think about. Remember seeing the Xenomorph type thing on the mural in the room with the vases? I see two theories. The Xenomorph is destruction incarnate (the symbol of death/selfishness and the embodiment of "life at the cost of others") for the Engineers - Hence when the humans interact with the black goo; bad shit happens. This is of course going on the tangent that the black goo is the Engineers life building substance and not a weapon of mass destruction as Janek states to Shaw. The whole building block of that theory though is the "Self-sacrifice to create new life" (Remember the opening scene? Engineer kills himself to spawn life) versus the human "Survival at the cost of others' lives". Read this dude's blog post to find out more about it: http://cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.html It's long winded but pretty interesting. A theory that states Jesus was actually an Engineer emissary - Hence why they planned to kill us sometime around 2,000 years ago! The other theory is that the Xenomorph is already out there in the universe and the Engineers created it or are harnessing it as a weapon. This is pretty much the basic conclusion when watching the film I think. Basically we see proto-Xenomorphs in a couple of different ways. IDK. It's ambiguous enough to look at it from a couple of different perspectives. That's why it's brilliant, haha.
I reckon they should just leave it at the one... Plus I'll lose a bet if there is a sequel, haha. |

When the black goo is mixed with an Engineer it evolves into a human. When the black goo is mixed with a human, it evolves into a face hugging type of creature. When the face hugger mixes with a engineer, it evolves into a Queen Xenomorph with superior strength and speed. When a face hugger mixes with a human, it evolves into a Xenomorph.
This is what I have come up with when it comes to with evolution of the Xenomorph. NOW...another debate is what the hell were the Engineers running from and piled up in a mass grave? My take...they were performing experiments with the black goo and they ended up with a human. They then mixed the black goo with the human and it evolved into those snake like face huggers and that is why they were present in the ship and that is what was coming out of the doctors eye after David spiked his drink with the goo. The huggers started to infect the engineers and everyone started killed each other off and/or dying. Another theory I read was that their was a battle between the Engineers if they would kill off the humans or not and they started killing each other off but I dont really buy that. And sorry, I am 99% sure there will be another movie or even 2 because Scott hinted that he wanted to make this into a trilogy. |

ALSO a little off summer movie topic but did anyone see the Chistopher Nolan movie The Prestige. I thought it was amazing and one of his best...anyway my wife and I have been having a 5 year debate or so about Christian Bale's character and if he was a clone or a twin...I say twin 100% but my wife is obsessed that Tesla built him a machine and created a clone...she is crazy...I need some opinions.
Thursday, June 21, 2012 @ 7:46 pm
The Prestige was underrated and it was great. I enjoyed it. and it was a twin brother, if it was a clone, the personalities would have been different. that settles THAT argument hahaha.
the Engineers, we still have no real set up to them EXCEPT they were there. now, with that said, the idea of DNA being mutated is still highly contested to this day..the way that Scott explains the idea of DNA manipulation/seraching for Faustian knowledge, this was the begining of the whole story I think, but he's been doin the whole "process of playing god" since the first one, and has done it BETTER than a lot of other sci-fi movies in general. The IDEA of engineers being the ones who manipulated DNA for whatever their reason(s) is just a parallel of what modern man is trying to do even currently. I think Scott is trying to tell a more, to me at least, a post-modern (lack of a better time) a re-telling of the story of Faustus at its core. back to DNA manipulation/mutation(s). if the organism can adapt/combine/host/have a parasite/etc through recumbent DNA mutation (this is science talk so I'm probably wrong in the words, not the theory), then a new organism can more or less become a new species or even just a radically different organism/species/science words. I had more, but I got all baked so I'll come back to this later. time for videogames. |

Thumbs up.
I'm 100% it's twin, pretty sure they make that obvious in some way or another. Tell her to stop with this tomfoolery. ALSO, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows just came out on DVD so fucking watch it a hundred times like I did already. Fuck I love Guy Ritchie. Dude needs to make more awesome capers though. |

coandca09, have you seen Revolver or RocknRolla yet? two of ritchies' lesser celebrated caper movies
Saturday, June 23, 2012 @ 8:08 pm
Didn't enjoy RocknRolla much at all, though Revolver is actually pretty good. Nothing touches Snatch, undoubtedly my favorite. Lock, Stock is a hot second place. The Sherlock movies are super fun, and I definitely have an affinity toward them since I love RDJ and Jude and the action is really fun in both flicks. I heard someone is scripting a third one already, so I've got a couple years at least to wait patiently. |

I've always thought it was a twin. Also definitely thumbs up. |

I like all Ritchie movies I've seen. Snatch would be my fave. but RocknRolla is very good too. Revolver is okay. Layer Cake awesome.

There was nothing interesting in the cinema (Batman and Prometheus next week here), so tempted by trailer I went to see Cosmopolis. Worst crap I have seen in months, maybe years. Fucking boring and not giving much instead. Beware.

Thursday, July 19, 2012 @ 7:53 am
Are the movies in English or are they dubbed or subtitled?
Thursday, July 19, 2012 @ 11:51 pm
Chazz, are you talking to me..? ;) If yes, I guess you're asking what's going on with foreign movies in Poland. Fortunately, dubbing is not the way the distributors deal with them, only cartoons I think. Movies are subtitled. What is the next question, does it have anything in common with Cosmopolis? I really wanted that movie to be good, but it is not, definitely. |

Holy fuck! TDKR....wow! That is all I will say. Blown away on how good it was. Bane was so terrifying and beautiful. The ending was so jaw dropping.
Friday, July 20, 2012 @ 9:51 am
Fuck, can't wait to see it!
Friday, July 20, 2012 @ 10:12 am
seen TDKR twice now, and it was just as good the second time around.

Friday, July 20, 2012 @ 6:23 pm
Knew you'd like it dude! There was one scene* where I almost jumped, air punched and cheered, haha. Took every fibre I had to restrain myself. Got goosebumps so many times during it though. *Where the police charge Bane's army head on after the Bat shoots the tanks. |
Friday, July 20, 2012 @ 6:31 pm
I only have 3 complaints about the movie:
*SPOILERS (maybe) Mathew Modine's character Deputy Commissioner Foley was pointless and seemed to go nowhere. Holly Robinson (Catwoman's sidekick) seemed promising but then she disappeared. I also didn't like how Bane died. First off, at the hands of catwoman and by a huge gun...that was lame. But the scene before that when Bane cries is so moving and amazing! |
Friday, July 20, 2012 @ 6:38 pm
Yeah, the movie isn't perfect but it is fucking epic and amazing. The sheer scope of it is brilliant. In fact, re-watching BB and TDK - They all have the same kind of plot inconsistencies at times that 'Rises' has. It doesn't detract from them at all though, I reckon.
Bane was scary. He was even scaring the shit out of me for fuck's sake, haha! |
Saturday, July 21, 2012 @ 4:20 am
Awesome flick so classy just an epic I won't spoil anything bit just thankyou Christopher Nolan for giving us the films the character deserves.
Saturday, July 21, 2012 @ 12:29 pm
I just couldn't get over Bane's voice; at times he sounded like Christopher Walken on helium.
Another thing that bothered me was that how did Batman suddenly be able to kick serious criminal ass when he was walking with a cane just minutes before? |
Saturday, July 21, 2012 @ 12:40 pm
There was also an incredibly underwhelming teaser trailer for Man of Steel. Kinda sorta maybe looking forward to it, even if it is directed by Zack Snyder.
Saturday, July 21, 2012 @ 1:50 pm
He used a steel leg brace of sorts from memory on his bad leg which I guess is mean't to explain his crippled leg becoming good again.
Saturday, July 21, 2012 @ 2:00 pm
Well, the leg thing wasn't even the most unbelievable thing regarding Batman's physique in the movie ;)
Michael Caine was superb in the movie, not sure how I feel about some of the other performances. |
Saturday, July 21, 2012 @ 2:20 pm
I loved Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine and Tom Hardy. Sorry but I loved Bane's voice. It was perfect.
Christian Bale was good. He hasn't been the center in either of the last 2 movies. Tom Hardy and Heath Ledger have stolen both. |
Saturday, July 21, 2012 @ 8:00 pm
No, I agree about Bane's voice - It was perfect; so quirky, intelligent and you can feel that zeal just permeating through it. They could've easily done some stupid Darth Vader-esque cookie cutter voice or even some dumb brutish brawler/wrestler thing but they actually did something unique and pulled it off well, IMO.

SPOILERS!!!
HEY DICK NUGGETS... Put SPOILERS before you say some shit people wouldn't know unless they've seen the movie. this isn't THE DARK NIGHT RISES OFFICIAL thread... and this isn't VC or B9... have some class. |
