Also I hate Americans who blame non-native English speakers for their grammar mistakes. And most of them don't speak a foreign language...

Can't say that I've heard this before. Do you mean we give foreigners shit for their poor English or you mean we blame non-native English speakers for the mistakes we make when we speak? |

Giving foreigners shit for poor English. At least I've stumbled upon this a lot of times already. Maybe lack of real arguments in discussions

There's apparently an outdated law in Florida that makes it illegal to have "intercourse" with a porcupine. A law that specific can only mean that someone in Florida actually tried to put their penis near a presumably hostile animal with huge fucking spikes. Also, two dudes actually tried it a few years back. Article here. They were from Russia, though.

I don't really even recall everything. I used to live in an area riddled with rednecks. I was out with a friend and we were visiting one of his friends who had a bunch of fucking rednecks over his house. My friend and I were making jokes about the rednecks and I made a joke about fucking goats and some guy over heard us and basically started the "Don't knock it until you try it" speech and how he would get lonely and sex is sex and what not. We thought he was joking until he told me about the waders and he was 100% completely serious, I then got up and I told my friend that I wanted to leave and I went to the car. |

Twitter is a cesspool of idiots (as is facebook) it's just easier to follow the morons with those hashtags. When Joel Ward of the Capitals knocked the Bruins out of the playoffs, a slew of racists tweets took over twitter as when Wayne Simmonds of the Flyers scored a game winning goal again the Penguins. Also when one of the characters in The Hunger Games wasn't supposed to be black and the racists tweets came in. |

Missouri Senate candidate — and world-renowned pregnancy expert — Todd Akin:
"First of all, from what I understand from doctors (pregnancy from rape) is really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. " bolded and italicized to emphasize how smart this guy is. http://www.progressmissouri.org/ clearly if you get pregnant from rape then you didnt try hard enough to self abort that shit. |

It's just not this guy. It's the Republican Party as a whole. Look at the batshit people in this country that think like this idiot like Rick Santorum, Michell Bachmann, Allen West, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Christine O'donell, Jan Brewer, Glen Beck...just to name a few. In 2010, when the Republican Party (pushed mainly by the Tea Party) made huge strides into state governments there have been RECORD numbers in Anti-Abortion bills proposed and passed in the United States. If they have another year this November like they did in 2010, don't be surprised if you find a woman's right to choose completely restricted through out the country. Also along that issue, woman's rights in general. |

What's funny about that statement is that it condemns the Republican party for trying to impose their morals on society (a method with which I completely disagree) and completely neglects to address the fact that Democrats do the same thing. We've got two political parties representing (and not well I might add) two fundamentally divergent sets of ideals trying to force its ideas onto the other half because they assume the other party is dumb and barbaric for not believing the same way they do. It all stems from people believing they're superior because they believe they're being altruistic or people believing their superior because they have a higher level of morality. I may not believe abortion is necessarily a good thing, but that doesn't mean I'm going to step into the house next to me and tell a woman she can't have one because it's not moral enough for me. I may believe women should be able to use birth control, but that doesn't mean I'm going to step into the local church and tell them they have to provide it even though it violates their personal beliefs. And even worse is when people assume their on such a higher plane of thought and know what's good for society. We're all flawed humans - voters, politicians, the president, all of us. I just want to be able to decide for myself what I believe and then be able to live that out as long as I'm not infringing on peoples lives, well-being, property, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, ect. and likewise not have other people infringe on my rights. Is that too much to ask? |

I wish the world was as easy as we could do whatever we wanted to do when we wanted to do them as long as they didn't infringe on others but life doesn't work like that anywhere at anytime. Everyone decisions infringes on everyone's time and how we want to live our lives. If this was a utopia, than it might have a chance.
I know the Democratic party is far from perfect but at the same time, I believe that the Republicans and Conservative have stood in the way and pushed against progression in this country from civil rights to gay rights to woman's right to worker's right and (the majority of the time) pushed war, religion, guns, oil and anti-regulations of much needed regulated industries down our throats. The Democrats do not have their hands clean but as a party as a whole and followers of that party have the greater good and progression of the human race as a goal. I feel that the GOP would like to push us back into the 1920's when it comes to labor, the role of woman in the world and suppression of the poor and minorities and at the same time giving industry, banks and corporations to run wild and do whatever they would like to do and to do this convince their base (of mainly white poor and middle class) that mexicans and blacks are taking your tax money and jobs and that the big bad government wants to take your guns and that fags want to destroy the american family and ruin religion and on and on. I personally believe that when it comes to fiscal issues that both parties, when they come together and compromise, that things get done and they get done pretty well. When it comes to social issues, I don't have the same feelings. I lived for too long under a household, school, church and with family friends that hold a GOP mindset and after 18 or so years of hearing it, it makes me sick to my stomach. Also, what set of morals do you think that the Democratic party is trying to impose on you? Just asking. |
|||||
|
Sunday, August 19, 2012 @ 5:41 pm
i have to agree with, Chaz.
Democrats definitely fuck shit up-- but when do they make arguments based on junk science, "tradition", "family values", or an old book? The day Anderson Cooper quotes Shel Silverstein's poems and claims they are the Word of God-- and then maligns Noah for killing all the unicorns-- then and only then will I equate his comments to Rush Limbaugh and all the other conservative cunts. |

I guess you took my statement to mean that I'm a Republican, which I'm not. I would consider myself fiscally conservative, but socially very liberal. Also, I should have replaced "Democrat" with "Liberal" and "Republican" with "Conservative" because I'm addressing them as philosophies, the parties just happen to be embodiments of those philosophies. As far as the liberal ideology trying to impose it's morals, Obamacare attempting to force churches to provide contraception is a good example because it's happening currently. I only provide that one for the sake of being pertinent instead of speculative (which seems to be a trend between the parties). All I know is that I have a very conservative family. I may not agree with them wholly on everything, but I also don't believe they're completely wrong. Likewise, I don't think you're wrong for following what you believe. It bugs me when my family start talking about "Democrats" as some faceless entity and I call them out on it.

A church is not a person. People don't get to pool their "religious freedoms" together. Also churches don't pay taxes, so why should we bend to their wants in the first place? And if you still think having laws that say churches being required to offer contraception coverage to employees is somehow violating religious freedoms, I would argue it's an even bigger violation of my religious freedom having large portions of my tax dollars funding the military.

Possibly one of the best statements on politics I have ever read. I honestly don't believe you can be a TRUE fiscal conservative and a social liberal at the same time. I am not calling bullshit or anything, I am just saying that if you are a social liberal than you believe in public welfare and government safety nets, public education among other issues as well as the rejection of laissez-faire economics and to fund those government programs as well as supporting the rejection of laissez-faire economics, you can't be fiscally conservative which believes in cutting those programs and believes in laissez-faire economics. I do understand what you sort of mean but I don't know if you understand to the extent of those two stances are. It's like saying that "I believe in creationism but I also have a strong belief in evolution." You could find some grey area where the two might be able to coexist but for the most part, it's oil and water. As far as Obamacare and birth control. This was an issue that should have been a non issue...meaning, the White House was in the process of working this out with insurance companies and churches to come to a compromise to have insurance companies pay for this our of their own pockets (which the Insurance companies would support because it so much more cost effective) but the right wing made it an issue and came out with an "attack on religion" crusade. I am ALL for churches paying for birth control. If you are going to operate as a business and for profit and have the power to provide employment to secular individuals, you should have to cover that part of their insurance. The Catholic church operate many hospitals and hire people that have nothing to do with the church. So if a woman wants to receive contraception through their insurance, it should be NO business of the employer to begin with and the employer should not force their religious beliefs on their employee. The Republican answer to this issue was to allow employers to pick and choose what they will cover/not cover on insurance plans. So basically if I have a nutzo boss who believe that prayer in the only way to be healed and I get cancer and I need an operation, he can just flat out say "no, go pray.". This is a crisco filled slope. |

Well, I'm actually a Libertarian. What I meant by the socially liberal part was that there are some big issues that I tend to side liberal on, mainly abortion and gay marriage. The modifier "very" probably wasn't needed there. Either way, I wasn't trying to start a debate or anything. I'd say a lot of us on here have varying political opinions which could lead to heated debates, but that's not why I'm here. |

Fair enough...Would you consider yourself a Ron Paul type of Libertarian or a Bill Mauer type? I just believe that politics is far too important to just sweep under the rug to save a few feelings or confrontation. But then again, unless someone might be swayed, it's either preaching to the choir or screaming at a wall. |

check out the original quote:
"From what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," said Akin said of pregnancy caused by rape. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist." so the best case scenario for the punishment of the rapist is that the rapist has to carry the baby until it's born? |

Ryan, step back for one second and try to get into Akin's head and try to understand how his mind works and then try not shoving a knife into your ear. I GUESS he is assuming that ALL rapist get caught and punished. My FAVORITE part of that whole quote was "But let's assume maybe that didn't work or something." Like the vagina and reproductive organs are like a machine and he is so nonchalant about it. |
